General Manager

The Ink Drinker is a new restaurant for lovers of books, craft cocktails, comfort food, and cozy vibes. We strive to provide the type of environment that enhances the reading experience so customers can enjoy a quiet evening absorbed in a good book while in community with other literary fans.

We are looking for an experienced General Manager to begin this exciting chapter with us.

Salary $70,000 to $85,000 DOE. Plus benefits.

Requirements

• 5 yrs experience working in restaurants with at least two years in restaurant management. Experiencing with restaurant opening a major plus.

• Experience building and leading successful teams.

• Must have beer, wine, and liquor expertise.

• Must have Manager’s Food Handler’s card.

• Must have food handler card and MAST 12 permit.

• Experience managing inventory.

• Experience with COG calculations.

• Proficiency with Excel and Google Sheets.

• Proficiency in managing P&L statements, budgets, inventory management, and cost controls.

• Availability to work days (mostly late afternoons, but earlier when needed), nights, and weekends.

• Strong communication skills.

• Current knowledge of sanitation and health codes.

Responsibilities

• Interview, hire, mentor, and lead employees.

• Oversee and schedule FOH staff.

• Create a warm and welcoming atmosphere that is conducive to our patrons focusing on their reading.

• Defuse customer service issues in a calm, professional, and courteous way.

• Manage P&L, budgeting with a focus on costs.

• Bring ideas for marketing, events, and driving top line sales.

• Ensure food and beverage safety and quality.

• Handle and monitor reservations and table turnover.

• Update Toast as needed.
